Drop City is a collective-gallery established in Newcastle in 2014, founded with the central objective of strengthening the links and dialogues between the local and international art scenes. While currently resident in Düsseldorf and Brussels, it’s back in Newcastle at Laing Art Gallery with a free opening event on Friday 11th March.

With diverse works by artists, curators and designers on show, all brought together under the kinship of Drop City, this is an exciting display of work. With so many skills and art forms on display, it’s a chance to view some incredible paintings, photographs, design work, furniture, objects, sculpture and installation.  There are also event-based artist film screenings and live performances by artists including Christian Jendreiko, Eleanor Wright, Francesco Pedraglio, hobbypopMUSEUM, Katie Schwab, Markus Karstiess, Nadia Hebson, Paul Becker, Ralf Brög, Sam Watson, and Sophie Macpherson.

The free opening event features aforementioned artist Christian Jendreiko, who will give a new performance for Laing Art Gallery; with his verbal notations something that has wowed museums and galleries all over the world, and is the perfect way to usher in this enthralling exhibition.

Drop City Centre comes to Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle from Friday 11th March.
