On Friday 3rd May, The Cumberland Arms hosts the Newcastle leg of The Drawn Together Tour, a project run by Berlin based grunge-indie rockers HAVVK and their DIY label Veta Records. The tour aims to celebrate and increase visibly for female and non-binary run music by teaming up with inclusive promoters, collectives and venues to connect artists and listeners through safe, empowering and positive live shows that challenge the default of what a live line-up should look like.

The band, whose sound veers between and intense punk sound to a beautiful shoegazey expansiveness (think The Cranberries meets Warpaint), have activism at their core and use music to discuss subjects like inequality, exclusion, gender-preconceptions and generalisations faced by different social groups.

Sandwiched either side of them on the bill are Sunderland’s alt-rockers and headliners PussyWillowFurryVenus, known for their intense performances, and Newcastle’s hard hitting, riff making, rock ‘n’ roll powerhouse, Sing Again Syren.

It’s going to be loud, it’s going to be wild but more importantly it’s going to be inclusive, make sure you’re there. Tickets are £5 ADV and doors are 7.30pm.
