Reliably informed

Endless Window bring another slab of left-field noise to The Cumberland Arms on Friday 15th June. Almost sickeningly relevant and always with an eye on the zeitgeist, it’s the go-to night for discerning gig goers looking for that something a little bit different.

This month sees Drahla head up the 33rd edition of EW with their intelligent, abstract but undeniably visceral take on post-punk and art rock. With an ever-growing reputation as a fervent live act, they’ve been asked to share stages with the likes of Parquet Courts, Buzzcocks, Hookworms and The Cribs and they recently caught the attention of uber-hip Brooklyn independent label Captured Tracks, who are re-releasing the band’s previous singles and EPs on cassette.

Also playing on the night are Teesside noise mongers Year Of Birds. Offering piledriver riffs, antagonistic attitude and absurdist wit in abundance, they’ll be taking a hiatus later this year so if you want to top up your YOB, now’s the time to do it.

Newcastle’s Profumo round off the bill. Their most recent EP, Cosy Catastrophe, encompassed doomy post-punk, post-Talking Heads funk and pristine Laurel Canyon balladry. With new material on the way later in the year, now is the perfect time to get yourself acquainted.
