In these times of austerity, disabled people have been handed a pretty raw deal. With the introduction of PIPs and falling employment rates, disabled people at all ends of the scale are feeling the pinch more than most. Charities such as Disability North, though, are helping to try and employ disabled people based on the skills that they have to offer. Aiming to promote the inclusion and acceptance of disabled people in the workplace and the community, their work is more important now than ever. Like all charities, Disability North relies on donations to help it to run, which is why a one-off event is being held at the Cluny to help raise funds for the organisation.

After bursting out of their original guise of Cut Glass Accents, Digits are heading up the bill with their post-Biffy Clyro power rock. Currently being feted as a name to watch in rock in 2015, the four-piece are currently promoting their ballsy Footprints & Embers EP, the follow up to 2013’s Acquiesce to Violence. Caustic riffs and pungent rhythms pervade everything Digits do, but if you’re looking for a something a bit more melodic in your riffage then the Newcastle group have you more than covered. Brimming with complex melodies, there’s something for even the most hard rock-sceptic of us to enjoy in Digits’ more intelligent raucousness. Joining them are The Brewdogs and the Acoustic Guys, forming a power trio not to be missed.

The Disability North Fundraiser takes place at The Cluny, Newcastle, on Saturday 28th February.
