Reliably informed

Austerity has hit the region pretty hard, with budget cuts to just about everything you can think of and then some. With the closure of libraries, support groups, independent shops, and more, things look bleak. But there’s one Tyneside women’s group who are determined to keep their heads while everything else is falling apart. All they want is a better life, even in the face of some tough economic times,

DieHard Newcastle, written by Ruth Raynor, directed by Neil Armstrong and produced by Christina Berriman Dawson, tells the tale of the group, who are trying to find a light at the end of the tunnel. With persistence and determination they want to make their community a better place. But is it really possible? This is a production that asks whether it’s really worth fighting in the face of adversity, searching for the moments that make life worth living and not sacrificing what you have for the unattainable ideal of the perfect life.

An appearance by Bruce Willis has yet to be confirmed. You never know…

DieHard Gateshead comes to the Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle on Tuesday 14th July, Washington Arts Centre on Wednesday 15th July and Gateshead’s Caedmon Hall on Thursday 16th July.
