Following on from a sell-out run at Live Theatre earlier this year, and a four star review from The Guardian, Day Of The Flymo returns for another run at Live Theatre from Thursday 12th until Saturday 21st November. The play, penned by award-winning playwright Paddy Campbell, is a glimpse into the chaotic lives of a brother and sister, and asks what can you do when the state decides it’s going to take over from your Mother?

There’s a cast of talented actors returning, including some younger faces from Live’s Youth Theatre, including Kalem Patterson (14), Tezney Mulroy (17), and Sophie Pitches (17), ably supported by a professional cast featuring Jill Dellow, herself a former member of Live’s Youth Theatre, and Akemnji Ndifornyen.

With excitement buzzing already, Max Roberts, Artistic Director at Live Theatre tells us we can expect “another hard-hitting piece about the care system he has known as an insider”. “Paddy’s trademark dark humour,” will also be on display, and after a sell out first run back in April, the inaugural joint Live Theatre and Northumbria University’s writer in residence is delighted that the production is returning.

A free Meet the Writer event takes place on Friday 13th November, with Campbell, Roberts and director Paul James talking about the making of the play, and Dr. Matt Hargrave from Northumbria University talking about the joint writer in residence. There is also a free Talkback discussion, on Tuesday 17th November, in which the writer, director and actors talk about the process of bringing the show to the stage.

We recommend booking in advance, it’s certain that Live Theatre have another sell-out run on their hands.

Day Of The Flymo is at Live Theatre, Newcastle from Thursday 12th until Saturday 21st November.
