American singer-songwriter Dawn Landes touches down at Middlesbrough’s Town Hall on Monday 9th December as part of a tour which takes her across Europe. Having previously drawn comparisons with the likes of Dolly Parton, her music draws on her experiences living in her home town of Louisville, before making the move to Brooklyn, New York to find her voice. The result is an impressive back catalogue, which is consistently performed to the most incredible standard.

2018 album Meet Me By The River received excellent reviews, with an impressive cast of veteran country session musicians joining her on the record. Travelling and Why They Name Whiskey After Men were highlights, but the album has a beguiling quality throughout. Having seen the trajectory taken by the likes of Taylor Swift, it’s clear that this sort of stripped back, emotive country is perfectly at home on the public’s musical palette.

Garnering acclaim for her live performances worldwide, and being described as highly idiosyncratic, original and bewitching, the gig at the Town Hall’s equally as unique Courtroom will be memorable to say the least. Dawn is supported by fellow Yep Roc label-mate Jonah Tolchin whose sound is steeped in the blues.
