Six Tales From The Brothers Grimm is the first exhibition in Gallagher & Turner’s new gallery space at 30 St Mary’s Place, Newcastle upon Tyne. Legendary artist David Hockney’s collection showcases the psychological strangeness that bubbles away as an undercurrent to the Brothers Grimm tales, with the exhibition running from Friday 8th April until Monday 11th May.

Exploring the characters’ relationships and motivations, Hockney captures the supernatural and surreal elements all a big part of the stories. With his prints showing technical mastery, solid lines and deep biting aquatint give depth, with traditional cross-hatching and soft-ground plates providing texture and tone. Hockney is an artist of immense skill and his work can really capture the imagination, and is sure to in this unique exhibition.

David Hockney’s Six Tales From The Brothers Grimm And Other Works is at Gallagher & Turner, Newcastle from Friday 8th April until Monday 11th May.
