Darlington Film Club’s passion and commitment to providing unique and interesting events for Darlington movie fans should be highly commended, and this month they continue on their mission to please cult and classic cinema fans, with a pair of saucy screenings which provide comedy and interest in equal measure.
Monday 7th November will see two Carry On… classics screened – Carry On Abroad offers up the perfect recipe for a failed holiday, while Carry On Girls sees the irrepressible Sid James host a beauty contest to bolster tourism in a seaside town, much to the consternation of the locals. The screenings will be accompanied by Q&A sessions with two Carry On stars, Sally Gleeson (who appears in both movies) and Margaret Nolan (who appears in …Girls, and is also famous for portraying Bond’s gold painted masseuse in Goldfinger). The ladies will be on hand to answer questions about the successful film franchise and no doubt reveal some trade secrets too.
Coming up on Monday 5th December is a meet and greet of an altogether different level, as controversial politician George Galloway introduces a screening of The Killing$ of Tony Blair, a documentary film produced, presented and narrated by Galloway. The film documents Blair’s alleged destruction of the Labour Party, his part in the Iraq war and his lucrative business dealings. It’s certain that an illuminating discussion will follow.
