Since last summer, Custom Reels has been giving young adults the opportunity to get involved with filmmaking and on Saturday 21st March, they bring us the Custom Reels Film Festival. Custom Reels, which began as a new initiative from The Customs House in South Shields, has encouraged young people such as Savannah, 15, and Josh, 18, to get involved with the cinema. The two have now organised and made the final decisions for the Film Festival with help from the rest of the Custom Reels council. Kicking off with an under 19s animation workshop with Sheryl Jenkins, the festival will be not just a celebration of film but of young people too. Expect everything from screenings of the team’s favourite viral videos, to South Tyneside’s favourite film, as voted for by the people.

The festival offers a chance to recognise and appreciate the Custom Reels project and the impact it has had on those involved, supporting and nurturing the next batch of innovative and exciting filmmakers. A film screening, talks and Q&A panel offer an opportunity to delve deeper into the project and find out what makes these guys tick.

Custom Reels Film Festival takes place at The Customs House, South Shields on Saturday 21st March.
