A festival celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer culture will take over Bamburgh House in Newcastle and BALTIC in Gateshead on Saturday 9th July, with a programme of live performance, dance, film, visual arts and workshops on offer for those interested in exploring the culture.

Serving as the festival hub, Bamburgh House will contain a rolling programme of pop-up entertainment which will include alternative drag performances, a flash costume sale and dress up with balletLORENT, plus there’s a curious? cake sale and bar. BALTIC invite you to celebrate the human form with a life drawing class featuring a nude transgender model and a lesson on movement drawing; plus there’ll be a screening of Marisa Zanotti’s Edits, a poetic documentary of a dance performed by all male dance company The Featherstonehaughs.

Another film screening, this time back at Bamburgh House, offers the chance to see two film works by artist, choreographer and queer academic Nando Messias. Also at Bamburgh House, a trio of dance and live performances explore relationships, identity and homosexuality around the globe. There’s also a lesson on how to Snap Like A Diva, led by artists Harold Offeh (aka Divana) and Steve Nice.

With events suitable for those aged 14+, curious? looks set to become an inclusive and artistic event on the already varied LGBTQ calendar this month.
