Are you aged between 15 and 23, based in the North East with a passion for theatre and writing reviews? Would you be interested in getting your hands on some free tickets to see some amazing productions in the coming months? If the answer to these questions is yes then don’t miss out on the opportunity to apply to the Reviewers in Residence scheme being jointly run by Newcastle’s Northern Stage and Cuckoo Young Writers.

The project is offering new, aspiring arts and theatre critics the opportunity to develop their writing skills and start building a strong portfolio of work. Starting in February 2015, the three month programme will give writers the chance to develop relationships with both Cuckoo Young Writers and Northern Stage, gain exclusive access to NORTH rehearsals (with the chance to interview actors and follow their development), have your work published on online arts magazine Cuckoo Review and be able to receive feedback and support from the Cuckoo team and Northern Stage.

There are also a couple of unique opportunities attached to the residency. Writers in residence will be invited to attend an introductory session with Lorne Campbell, Artistic Director at Northern Stage. You’ll also be given the opportunity to go to a session held by music and theatre critic Maddy Costa and artistic director of A Younger Theatre Jake Orr, with the aim of developing your review writing skills.

The project runs from February-June 2015.

To apply, email Amy Mitchell (amy@newwritingnorth.comexpressing your interest in the project by Friday 6 February. For further information you can call Amy on 0191 2048852.
