Reliably informed

We might be isolated from one another but collaboration is not dead as up and coming music organisation Unison Music & Events team up with the North-East’s ever-present musical advocates Spotlight UK to present the series, Crossover Covers. The premise is simple, artists and bands from the region cover a track by their local contemporaries, with no real limits to what’s allowed. So every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm you can expect genre-cross overs, style experimentation and a whole lot of fun.

Sprouted as an idea to cure the boredom of lockdown the series has since developed into something which is sure to outlive the lockdown period and there’s talk of it even becoming a charity record sometime in the future. So far, the likes of Sunderland based singer-songwriter Lottie Willis, indie-rock outfit Sleeptape and Teesside’s rising stars, Mt. Misery have gotten involved, with Paige Temperly, Faye Fantarrow and local jazz musician Thomas Dixon (doing a stunning saxophone cover of a Ten Eighty Trees Track) still to come.

For artists who’d like to have a go, all you have to do is drop an email to unisonmusicandevents@gmail.com to double-check your song of choice hasn’t been taken, then simply film the cover and send it over.
