Reliably informed

In a new play from writer Richard Stockwell and director Ali Pritchard, Alphabetti Theatre hosts a new, challenging work from Tuesday 22nd until Friday 25th March. The play centres around the character of Ben, and looks at what would happen if you woke up to a changed personality, is it still you? What use are memories and people from your past if your personality changes? It’s a thought-provoking piece from an acclaimed writer and talented director.

Performed by Arabella Arnott, James Barton, Matt Jamie and Rosie Stancliffe the character of Ben develops as the play unfolds, changing after an accident, an unreliable memory and unpredictable temper lead to someone not quite who he was before. We follow Ben trying to rebuild the past, and struggling to work out whether he even wants or needs to. The culmination of a chain of stories that lead to now, the play examines what happens when a link in the chain is broken, in a fascinating narrative.

All the performances are available to be viewed under a “pay what you feel” model, the independent venue pushing for art and theatre to be available to all, not just those who can afford it. They must surely be commended for bringing great art to anyone who wants to see it in financially tough times, with Continuum possibly being one of the stand-out shows.

Continuum is at Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle from Tuesday 22nd until Friday 25th March.
