A new sound installation, created especially for Cheeseburn, will premiere at Cheeseburn Sculpture in Northumberland on the August bank holiday weekend of Saturday 27th through to Monday 29th August.

The project is a collaboration between one of the world’s leading wildlife recordists Chris Watson and acclaimed Northumbrian poet Linda France. France is Cheeseburn’s first Writer in Residence, and visited over the span of a single year, on solstices, equinoxes and cross quarter days, to create a calendar of the place, based on acute observation and calm reflection. The research period lead to some fascinating awareness and inspired poetry which is accompanied by recordings from acclaimed sound recordist Chris Watson.

This is the third collaboration between the two, and visitors are invited to listen to a lightly orchestrated soundscape of birdsong, wildlife, weather and original poems composed for each specific setting, the time of day and the season.

Compass takes place at Cheeseburn Sculpture, Northumberland from Saturday 27th until Monday 29th August.
