Is anyone else just a little bit scared by going to a classical music concert? All that sitting in complete silence and the awkward pause before everyone starts clapping at the end… It can all be a bit intimidating for those of us who are much more used to a more raucous environment (you won’t see a mosh pit at a Mozart recital…) Well, there’s good news for those of us who have a bit of a soft spot for sonatas as The Cumberland Arms in Newcastle host Classical Revolution on Sunday 18th January.

Hosted by the lovely Semibreve Supper Club, Classical Revolution is all about getting people to engage with some of the most compelling pieces within the genre outside of the usual concert hall environment. There’s no need to put on your formal gladrags for this event; simply turn up, curl up next to fire and enjoy some impromptu performances with a pint and some bar bites cooked up by the Supper Club. If you’ve ever just wanted to indulge that side of you that loves a bit of Radio 3 or Classic FM without the formalities, then this is the perfect opportunity.

The Semibreve Sessions are at The Cumberland Arms, Newcastle on Sunday 18th January.
