Glastonbury may be done and dusted, but don’t pack up your wellies just yet. Gateshead’s rising one-dayer is back and looking bigger and better than ever. Chase Park Festival was established on the premise of involving people of all abilities, after funding issues saw it ditched last year, the annual event will return this year on Saturday 8th August, now the proud holder of a Gold Standard from the Attitude is Everything festival charter – an accolade that puts them up there with Glasto itself.

Previous years have seen the likes of The Futureheads and Hyde & Beast featuring as part of the strong North East-based line-up but this year organisers have managed to bag two huge national acts, with Irish rockers Ash set to headline and chart topping folk-pop duo Turin Breaks also making an appearance. Chase Park has become renowned for its community atmosphere, so there’ll still be a healthy contingent of up and coming local talent to back it up. Field Music protégés SLUG will feature alongside soul-popstress Beth Macari and hotly tipped rock twins Gallery Circus. Other exciting artists include Glasgow’s Monogram, Sheffield’s answer to the Black Keys, Hot Soles, and Manchester-based grime/hip-hop experimentalist Blizzard.

As well as providing some great music, the festival will have a wide variety of food stalls and family friendly entertainment on offer. Organiser, Alistair McDonald has high hopes for this years’ festival: “There’s a great feeling of community and togetherness that you get from an event that doesn’t have any barriers, and genuinely gives festival goers at Chase Park a totally uplifting and amazing experience.”

Chase Park Festival will take place in Chase Park, Whickham on Saturday 8th August.
