If there’s any band from the region who should play with an orchestra it’s Cattle & Cane. A big show for their big sound that encompasses folk, indie and pop music, their big profile that has seen them being championed by all the big music magazines/radio stations and playing all the big festivals. And because of the big love that Teesside has for them that has seen their lyrics printed inside Middlesbrough FC’s home shirt.

Last year the band performed a sold-out concert at Middlesbrough Town Hall with the Northern Orchestra and have released six of the stand out tracks from the performance as an EP available exclusively from Bandcamp on limited edition CD and digital download. It’s a grandiose and dynamic performance that sounds like the perfect marriage of classical and contemporary, Helen Hammill’s beautiful vocals soar over a beautiful panoramic soundscape filled with strings, piano and percussion.

“It was such an honour to collaborate with the Northern Orchestra at Middlesbrough Town Hall and we’re very proud to share these recordings from the show” said Helen “It was always a dream of ours to play with an orchestra, so to make that happen in such an amazing venue was pretty special” adds her brother Joe.

You can catch Cattle & Cane live this summer (sadly without an orchestra!) playing alongside the likes of Stereophonics, Lewis Capaldi, Madness and The Wandering Hearts on the following dates:

26th May – Exhibition Park, Newcastle
6th July – Nibley Festival, Cotswolds
21st July – Bitts Park, Carlisle
18th August – Hardwick Live, County Durham
24th August – Cottingham Folk Festival +

Tickets are available from their website.
