Casual Threats should already be familiar to readers of this magazine. If the name is new to you however, then be clear that these are very much ones to watch. Their extensive gigging schedule has earned them a dedicated fan base for their intense, energetic and humorous live show – one that’s seen them share the stage with acts like Coquin Migale and Fighting Caravans.

Last year’s debut mini-album Life From Below did an impressive job of transferring their set into the studio, in the process establishing Casual Threats as significant new players on the scene, blurring in post-punk intensity with bright, melodic songcraft on highlights like Extra Martime Affair and Stalking Awareness Month.

Not ones to rest on their laurels however, the trio are set to unleash their new single Hate on Friday 7th July. Co-produced with Steven Bardgett of Mouses and mastered by the in-demand Pete Maher (whose previous clients have included Jack White, Nine Inch Nails and Maximo Park), Hate is yet another step forward for the trio. Marrying a dirtier-than-ever bass sound with more mature playing and arrangement, this dynamic track once again sets Casual Threats apart from their contemporaries. With more new music doubtlessly in the pipeline, make sure you don’t miss out on this release.
