The well-established heavy rock and metal festival returns to Newcastle’s Cluny on Saturday 28th November, providing the perfect atmosphere for the dark and wintry nights.

With a line-up that intends to pummel your eardrums into submission with a brutal selection of metal, heavy rock and thrash acts from across Europe, the event is headlined by Norwegian black/death metal outfit The 3rd Attempt (pictured), created by two guitarists from black metal rockers Carpathian Forest. Also aiming to leave your ears ringing are Finland’s Fleshpress, who return after a six year hiatus with their doom-led sludge; A Forest Of Stars, widely thought of as one of the best black metal bands on the UK circuit; Holland’s Kaasschaaf, who describe themselves as a ‘party grind’ band (and whose name means ‘cheese slice’, fact fans); currently based in Edinburgh, Barshasketh hail from New Zealand, where their black metal has garnered considerable praise; more blackened death metal can be had from Burial; while Liverpudlian’s Coltsblood bring the doomy noise, and local riff-monsters Geomancer open up proceedings.

Byker Grave takes place on Saturday 28th November at The Cluny, Newcastle.
