With mental health an issue we need to strive to keep at the forefront of discussion, any art which intelligently and tenderly tackles that should be heralded, and such a play heads to ARC in Stockton on Thursday 26th January.
Butterfly is a darkly funny, clever piece of theatre, which takes the issues around mental health head on. Written and directed by Saltburn based Vici Wreford-Sinnott, the script follows Beatrice and her thirst for a quiet life. As she waits for the outcome of an assessment, she questions life and every little bit of it that lead her to this moment. With music used to play a part, this play raises awareness by being an immensely watchable, enjoyable and thought-provoking piece of theatre. With more dates to follow, you could also catch it on Thursday 9th March at Arts Centre Washington or Tuesday 21st March at Northern Stage in Newcastle.
