Brofest is back, and it promises to leave more ears packed with gauze and necks cocooned in safety braces than ever before. After a few years away, the scintillating metal festival returns like a fist from the grave to Newcastle University’s Students’ Union on Friday 28th-Saturday 29th February for two crammed days of head banging, face melting and larynx shredding.

Scottish legend Heavy Pettin’ will be leading the onslaught, alongside thrash titans Hydra Vein, and a newly reunited Storm Child, who will be taking to the stage for the first time since 1982 with a set that promises to be well worth the wait.

Other highlights include new wave heavy metal icons Saracen, whose progressive sound and gargantuan stage presence have always set them head and shoulders above their peers, while Denmark’s criminally obscure Alien Force visit the UK for the first time ever to remind us that when it comes to metal, few do it better than those with Norse blood coursing through their veins.

Continuing the international feel, American rockers Haunt and their Canadian brothers Traveler will be making the pilgrimage across the Atlantic to offer up some tasty slabs of the good stuff, while local lads Risen Prophecy deserve a tip of the cap too.

In short, this is going to be one hell of a weekend, with more metal than a robot orgy in a junkyard. Get yourself down.
