Reliably informed

For a young person to explain what’s going on inside their head is an everyday struggle we’ve all been through. Knowing how a young person’s brain works is a truly difficult thing, and a new theatre show comes to Sunderland and Gateshead to show just why they’ve evolved to be imperfectly perfect. Brainstorm is the brainchild of theatre company Mortal Fools, with the fast-paced production bringing something captivatingly dynamic and truly original to Arts Centre Washington on Saturday 24th March and Caedmon Hall Gateshead on Wednesday 11th April.

It’s all come from youth theatre group Tyne Valley Youth Theatre who’ve been working with Mortal Fools on this part-scripted piece exploring how the teenage brain develops. Drawing on relationships with parents and those around them, it shows the way young people try to make sense of the world.

The script developed by Ned Glasier, Emily Lim and Company Three also drew on the knowledge of neuroscientists with the cast playing a key part too before Director Helen Ferguson pulls it all together.

Set to be poignant, honest and funny, this is a key exploration of young people’s mental health and the pressures that society heaps on them, and will help you see a young person’s brain in a whole new way.

Brainstorm is at Arts Centre Washington on Saturday 24th March and Caedmon Hall Gateshead on Wednesday 11th April.
