Reliably informed

A lot of horror films nowadays rely on jump scares to be creepy, neglecting the fact that it’s often the tension of a good story that creates the most fear in the heart of a captive audience. As such, it’s good to see that the Cumberland Arms are hosting a night of gothic spoken word delights. Brought to us in collaboration with Victoria Watson, Blood From The Quill will be weaving tales of murder, monsters and mansions with more than a few skeletons in the closet. To add to the haunting atmosphere, the venue will also be dressed up to send you back in time, resulting in full sensory immersion.

If all that wasn’t enough, the night will be completed with a screening of Hammer’s Horror of Dracula. Starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, it follows the vampire hunter Van Helsing as he discovers Dracula’s castle and attempts to save his fiancée from being the count’s next victim. It’s real blood curdling stuff.

Blood From The Quill comes to Newcastle’s Cumberland Arms on Saturday 31st October.
