Some of the best dance companies from across the world, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Mexico, Serbia, the Philippines, USA and the UK, will be performing at Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance, taking place between Friday 7th and Saturday 15th August.

The theme this year, Dos Plumas Al Viento (Two Feathers in the Wind), will echo across each of the performances, before finally culminating in specially choreographed gala shows involving all of the participating countries (Thursday 13th – Friday 14th August; Middlesbrough Theatre and Forum Theatre, Billingham, respectively).

Along the way there will be plenty of opportunity to get involved yourself, with Salsa at Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt on Tuesday 11th and youth dance workshops at various venues across the seven days. Other art forms also get a look-in; World United by Dance, a new sculpture from Mexican artist Carmen Avalos, will be unveiled alongside a new screen-dance installation inspired by her work, at Teesside University.

The main dance arena this year is back at the Town Square, after 15 years away from its spiritual home; like a feather in the wind, it has touched down back to where it truly belongs. Get involved in a week of world-class entertainment.

Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance takes place at various locations from Friday 7th until Saturday 15th August.
