Here in the north east our bands work hard; if they’re not consistently touring in-between managing their day jobs, they’re helping each other out or in the studio recording for their fans. Over the past couple of years, Newcastle neo-gothic blues rockers Bernaccia‘s hard work have made them one of the most recognisable bands on the local scene. They’re now gearing up to go back into the studio to record once again, but before they lock themselves away to create what should be another spectacularly dark and brooding release, they’re playing one last show at Think Tank.

Harnessing their wide variety of influences – ranging from soul and folk to blues and rock – the four-piece band are slowly but surely gaining reputation for being the Geordie Nation’s answer to the Alabama 3 (something not unnoticed by Americans themselves, as Bernaccia supported them recently at the O2 Academy). If you love to hear a band weave a good yarn, Bernaccia are your guys.

Joining them on the night are Billingham DIY rock duo Mouses, whose second EP (very creatively titled The 2nd Mouses EP) was released recently to some major cult success. Known for their blistering, highly energetic live shows, they’re always exciting no matter how many times you catch them. Opening the night are infectious, pseudo-pop alt rockers Spitfire Hostels, who channel their boundless energy into consistently evolving their live show and songs to  bend the indie genre to its limits.

Bernaccia, Mouses and Spitfire Hostels all play Think Tank, Newcastle on Tuesday 19th May.
