Jungle are one of the most popular purveyors of tropicalia-infused electro pop of the past couple of years. It was odd, then, to see Beaty Heart supporting them on one of their recent tours. The London-based music and visual arts group were producing criminally catchy tunes inspired by global sounds years before Jungle had even begun recording their critically acclaimed work, yet Beaty Heart’s debut album Mixed Blessings slid under the radar almost unnoticed. Injustice, she cries!

The group are now preparing to release their sophomore record in early 2016. Before then, they’re off touring the country as part of Generator’s Mapped Out Tour. For their two dates in the North East, you can expect an airing of some of their newer tunes as well as the array of samples, heavy percussion and ethereal synths that made Mixed Blessings such a joy. As a band dedicated to creating visuals as well (they do all their own videos and artwork), don’t be surprised if there’s some hypnotic images accompanying their atmospheric pop too. Be still my beating heart…

Beaty Heart play The Cluny, Newcastle on Thursday 5th November and The Studio, Hartlepool on Friday 6th November.
