All centred on the theme of Emotion, the Free Thinking Festival from BBC Radio 3 comes to Sage Gateshead from Friday 29th March until Sunday 31st March.

The whole weekend sees a gathering of talented individuals debating and wrestling with a fascinating theme. Whether it’s the angst created by the political world, the way emotion plays a role in culture, how the media world and TV and film causes us to think or the the benefits of sublimating feeling, there’s a huge discussion created and put out by some magnificent minds.

Radio 3 aims to connect audiences with music and culture, and they’ll broadcast from a pop-up studio where you can hear an eclectic range of classical, jazz and world music. There are more than 50 sessions to choose from and tickets are free.

There’s a huge span of artistic endeavours tackling the theme, and lots of discussions, panel debates and interactive sessions exploring everything from science, history and literature to film, theatre, gaming and musical performances to explore and explain the full spectrum of human emotion and its integral role in our society today.

BBC Radio 3’s Free Thinking Festival is at Sage Gateshead from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st March.
