Alt. rockers Basement return to the North East with a hotly anticipated gig at Newcastle’s Riverside on Wednesday 28th August. The five-piece hail from Ipswich but their sound is far more rooted in the American melodic hardcore emo punk sound of bands like Jimmy Eat World and Sunny Day Real Estate.

The band released their critically acclaimed fourth record, Beside Myself, late last year through the excellent Fuelled By Ramen label and it’s sure to catapult the band to the next level. It’s an incredible rise from a band who seemed to have brought about their own premature ending just five years ago when they took a two year break to concentrate on ‘proper careers’. Listening to the emotional intensity of singles Disconnect and Stigmata it’s obvious that Basement are now a band fully committed to the cause, and their live shows take that intensity to a new extreme.

Support at the Newcastle gig comes from Australian surf rock duo Hockey Dad, who have just released their sophomore record Blend Inn which is full of instant infectious melodious tunes like Homely Feeling and I Wanna Be Everybody. See you down the front.
