Darlington has had a great 2015 for its role in the North East cultural scene, and it’s nights like Soapbox Sessions that help it thrive. Hole In The Wall hosts another edition of this lovely night on Sunday 13th December, with the added addition of former Futurehead Barry Hyde.

Mr Hyde has been solo for just long enough now, that he has really refined a sound that suits him, and allows carefully crafted songs to spring to life, through precise yet delicate piano playing, punchy and tender in equal measure, it’s all undercut by earnest, sincere vocal melodies.

With new album Malody to be released next year, this is a great chance to get a sneak peak at where this talented songsmith is taking his songwriting.

There’ll also be the usual open mic, where budding musicians, comedians and whatever else can take to the stage for the first forays into showcasing their creative side, trying something new or honing something just that little bit more. There’s even a free pint for the best one.

This is undoubtedly going to be a great way to spend a Sunday evening, so get your Christmas shopping done and as a little treat later on, you can get swept away in the phemomenally talented Barry Hyde, and whatever else Soapbox Sessions bring to the table.

Barry Hyde is at Soapbox Sessions, Darlington on Sunday 13th December.
