Reliably informed

Identity and examination of the self are the key themes for a new exhibition coming to Praxis Gallery in Newcastle, arriving with opening night on Friday 16th March. Autogenous brings together the work of Rachel Cox, Roberta Louise Green, L McDade, Hayashi Yume, Rebecca Reed and Chan Ward-Mercer through the shared themes, with a wide range of practices displayed by the Newcastle-based artists.

The title hoped to draw a wild, honest and visceral approach from the artists toward their work, dealing with a variety of issues from daily struggles to more abstract concepts of an artistic or aesthetic identity. Each artist draws on their own experience to find their own interpretation.

From line drawing to sound installation, there’s a lot on offer, and questions raised around identity and self-examination could not be more relevant than they are right now, making this a rather poignant exhibition.

Autogenous is at Praxis Gallery, Newcastle from Friday 16th March.
