The organisers of the Chase Park Festival, nestled within Whickham in Gateshead, have revealed that Irish rock band Ash will be headlining the fifth annual event on Saturday 8th August. Frontman Tim Wheeler expressed his excitement about playing the event, the first time the band have played a major festival in the region: “We’re really excited to be playing in the North East again […] This event will be special.”

The announcement comes at the organisers have unveiled their most ambitious and diverse line up to date, featuring amazing acts from both near and afar.Folk foursome Turin Brakes will also be making an appearance, as are critically acclaimed Sunderland wonky-rock outfit SLUG. Glasgow post-post ensemble Monogram are also playing on the bill, as is Newcastle’s very own soul diva Beth Macari.

As well as the number of bands on this year’s bill, the festival is also offering some beautiful inner-city surroundings, a bevvy of food and drink outlets and a unique atmosphere. The festival has also gained a Gold Standard from Attitude Is Everything, making the one-day event accessible and inclusive for deaf and disabled people.

Festival organiser Alistair McDonald commented: “We have an amazing line-up and I think anyone who is a music fan will have a great time. The event will also to appeal to people with disabilities as we have a range of provisions in place.”

Chase Park Festival takes place on Saturday 8th August. Tickets are on sale now.
