Middlesbrough’s Institute of Modern Art will play host to a unique touring exhibition of major international works this month, as the Art From Elsewhere exhibition displays a dynamic range of mixed media art from across the world.

The touring exhibition will stop off at six museums across the country, evolving as it moves between each gallery and showcasing works by culturally diverse international artists including Ai Weiwei, Shilpa Gupta, Barbara Kruger, Paula Bruscky and Mohamed Bouroissa. Proving that regional artistic hubs like mima have the considerable pulling power for such an exhibition, Art From Elsewhere features works on paper, video, sculpture, painting, photography and installation. The exhibition’s timing couldn’t be better too, as artists aim to address an array of important topical issues from life in conflict zones, oppressive governmental regimes, the advent of capitalism and post-colonial experiences.

Art From Elsewhere is at mima, Middlesbrough from Friday 19th June until Sunday 27th September.
