Reliably informed

Isn’t it exciting to have the Star & Shadow back? If you’re not sure, I’m here to tell you that it really is and they’ve already taken to filling Tyneside back up with the good stuff that you took for granted before they went away for what seemed like a new dark age.

Get Friday 1st June in your diary as Glasgow’s Apostille comes to town to rock your world. The alter-ego of Michael Kasparis, Apostille is his solo electronic venture and comes, as so much electronica tends to these days, from a background of playing in noisy hardcore punk bands.

Powerless, his self-released 2015 debut album set the template by hooking up an honest vocal delivery to some manic expositions in electronic pop. Both minimal and courageous with intent to connect, Apostille songs race off with unchecked abandon, skittering drum machines, thick walls of sequenced synth and elastic basslines.

New record, Choose Life is out June 8th on Upset The Rhythm. Word is that it’s an entirely more grounded affair with a new-found confidence but still chock full of melody and pop gems. I can’t really think of a better way to see in the summer to be honest.
