Last year, speed metal legends Anthrax released For All Kings and made it into the Billboard Top Ten for the first time in nearly twenty-five years. It was their best-received album in a long time and they’ve been touring hard in support, a tour which brings them to Northumbria University on Thursday 16th February as part of their Among The Kings tour. After a history of splits, hardships and rotating membership, the band are back to the classic line-up (well, four-fifths of it at least), with Anthrax mastermind Scott Ian reunited with iconic vocalist Joey Belladonna as well as drummer and songwriter Charlie Benante.
As the tour title might suggest, as well as an opportunity to promote their new material there’ll also be an opportunity to heard tracks from their breakthrough release Among The Living, now celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. As the album that nailed their sound and united metalheads and skate punks and saw their logo on jackets and skateboards across the globe, expect the fan favourites to flow on the night. Support for the tour comes from The Raven Age and as is becoming the norm, there’s a whole host of allegedly VIP packages available for the mega-fan: custom Anthrax cinch bag, anyone?
