Taking their name from the Greek god of requited love, London’s Anteros are charming their way into the hearts of the music press at the moment and stop off to play Newcastle’s Think Tank? on Sunday 2nd April as support to up and coming rockers Blaenavon.
After a busy 2016 that saw rave reviews of their Breakfast EP, Anteros played Reading and Leeds Festivals, opened the Other Stage at Glastonbury and have continued to push forward into this year with the release of a new single, Drunk, that is a funk-infused, sexy gem. They’ve even gone and included a French bit in there, just to get you in the mood.
Drawing on influences such as Blondie, No Doubt and The Cure, they mine a deep vein of sophisticated, dreamy, and instantly hummable indie pop that is both calculatedly commercial yet still full of soul.
After being tour support with White Lies throughout March, they’re gaining experience and fans quickly and have already been booked for Secret Garden Party later in the year. Both DIY Magazine and The Sunday Times have been lavish in their praise, now might be the perfect time to show your devotion to Anteros.
