A new ensemble of resident actors at Northern Stage perform an adaptation of Orwell’s famous Animal Farm.

George Orwell’s 1945 novella Animal Farm is undoubtedly one of the greatest politically inspired works of literature the world has ever seen. Through the medium of a farmyard setting Orwell simply and elegantly recounts the events that followed the Russian revolution of 1917, and the Stalinism that aggressively transformed the Soviet Union.

It is this story, adapted by Ian Wooldridge, which will grace Northern Stage from Thursday 3rd until Saturday 5th March, and as The Guardian claims that this particular stage version to be just as good as the original story, it’s up to the NORTH 2016 ensemble to do it the justice it deserves.

Part of Northern Stage’s continuing commitment in supporting up and coming talent, NORTH allows thespians the chance to partake in an intensive programme of industry training, workshops and performance experience. This year’s group, consisting of Dale Jewitt, Craig Fairbairn, Millie Harris, Katherine Pierce and William Wyn Davies will perform the production, directed by Mark Calvert, on stage as well as taking it on a tour of local schools.

There are only a handful of tickets available for each night left so take advantage of this opportunity to see one of Orwell’s best-written stories on the stage.

Animal Farm is at Northern Stage, Newcastle from Thursday 3rd until Saturday 5th March.
