Hilarity Bites have continually proved themselves to be top of the region’s comedy game, not just for comic relief in the region but also for their promotion of rising stars. Bringing these two aspects together once again, the latest of their New Act & New Material nights comes to Darlington’s Hole In The Wall on Monday 13th May, and will undoubtedly be a rib-tickling belter. Your host for the night will be Andy Fury, who started stand-up out of “sheer boredom” a few years ago but has since proved to be anything but tedious. His laid-back presence is set to make him an engaging MC for the evening.

Joining Andy is George Zach, a comedian who has done everything from selling out his show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival to supporting Luisa Omielan and discussing the Greek financial crisis (as you do). Clearly, avoiding national service in the Greek army was a boon for comedy, as his likable witticisms and thoughtful observations (as well as a few translations of common Geordie phrases in the mix) make him an accessible and charming draw. A slew of equally talented new and established acts will also be taking to the stage alongside Andy and George meaning you might just discover your new favourite stand-up.
