From pop-up shop to MBE: that’s a success story if ever we heard one. For Rosie Wolfenden and Harriet Vine that’s exactly what happened when their brand Tatty Devine went from being a small shop in Shoreditch to an international success. Their jewellery is¬†wonderfully quirky but also amazingly wearable, so those MBEs for Contribution to Fashion is well deserved. What are they doing here in the north east though?

Wolfenden and Vine are coming to the BALTIC’s shop (already a haven for odd little trinkets and jewellery to adorn your fingers with) and putting on a special afternoon featuring two unique workshops: one to make your own bunting necklace and another for a parakeet necklace (who doesn’t want to wear a parrot around their neck?) Unfortunately, those events sold out faster than the brand’s latest creation. Luckily, though, the pair have extended out their stay at the BALTIC to a whole afternoon and will be hosting a discussion about how they went from small time jewellery makers to global fashion icons. Fans will also have the opportunity to ask Rosie and Harriet whatever they wish after the talk, so if you’ve ever wanted to know the secret behind making a fashion brand that’s known the world over, now’s your chance. Or you can just drool over the jewellery. That’s what I’ll be doing.

An Afternoon with Tatty Devine takes place at the BALTIC, Gateshead on Sunday 4th October.
