This year the indomitable Jumpin’ Hot Club are turning 30 and to help them celebrate, Amelia Curran will be playing a special show at the Live Theatre. Returning to the venue once again, the Canadian will be bringing her piercingly insightful lyrics and potent melodies back to Tyneside. Hailing from Newfoundland, Curran’s songs aren’t tainted by whimsy like some of her contemporaries, instead using real-life situations and gritty experiences to colour her works. It ensures that her songs are cemented in the here and now, while her Americana-inspired tunes give them a timeless edge.

Gem Andrews will also be playing as part of the festivities. With her beautifully crafted original songs that are firmly rooted in the traditions of Americana and alternative country, Andrews has forged a sparkling career as one of the country’s – and Newcastle’s – most beloved performers. Currently touring with her full band, she’ll be playing songs from her critically acclaimed album Vancouver.

Amelia Curran and Gem Andrews play at the Live Theatre, Newcastle on Friday 30th October.
