On 21st September, it’s World Peace Day, a day created by the UN and celebrated by its member states which carries a separate theme each year (this year’s theme is ‘dignity for all,’ in case you were wondering). The Holy Biscuit – already over halfway through their programme of events commemorating the UN Year of Light – are getting in on the act by presenting three weeks of works from artists near and afar.

Artists from across the north east have teamed up with those from Germany, the Netherlands and Liverpool to create a multi-sited call out for peace. As part of the exhibition, works in a variety of mediums will be on display, from textiles and print to photography and silversmith pieces. Reaching out to the public, the group are also encouraging all of us to create a small textile ‘peace square’ which will be eventually weaved into a much larger quilt. So far, there have already been contributions from Sri Lanka, Florida and Germany, as well as contributions from closer to home. It’s hoped that the series of events and exhibition will help people find out more about the day of peace and get involved. All they are saying is give peace a chance.

All We Are Saying comes to the Holy Biscuit, Newcastle from Saturday 12th September to Saturday 3rd October.
