There is no greater feeling than adrenaline gushing through your body as you climb out of your comfort zone and base jump into the unknown. For some this is something we can only fantasize about, for others this is a way of life; regularly going to extremes in a quest for action, exploration and adventure, pushing the boundaries of what we mere mortals thought possible.

If you can’t quite face the real thing, the 10th annual Adventure Film Festival comes to Durham’s Gala Theatre from Sunday 15th until Tuesday 17th February, with a collection of 11 of the most action-packed documentaries to inspire, excite and entertain the adrenaline junkie trapped in us all – all from the comfort of your cinema seat. From the hundreds of submissions, the selected films will take audiences on a variety of journeys beyond everyday comprehension, from free climbing in Yosemite to base jumping in deep Alpine valleys; mountain biking the Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan; snowboarding the Himalayas and surfing underneath the Northern Lights. Set to be the festival’s strongest line up yet, the quality of the productions on offer is a testament to the ever-increasing skill of the artists and athletes, who exceed all limits to create films that inspire us to seek just a taste of that adrenaline rush for ourselves.

The Adventure Film Festival is showing at the Gala Theatre, Durham from Sunday 15th until Tuesday 17th February.
