Reliably informed

An iconic name in experimental rock circles, Acid Mothers Temple have spent over two decades blowing minds and kicking out the jams. Over countless studio and live releases and an international touring schedule, they’ve pushed their sound into areas of free-form jazz and improvisation, subdued acoustic hymnals and all other manner of territory, whilst remaining faithful to their open-minded interpretation of psychedelia.

Bandleader Kawabata Makoto is no stranger to the region, having appeared at The Cluny several times previously (including a memorable and intense duo show with noise artist KK Null). Their gig at the venue on Tuesday 6th November however marks the first time that the full Acid Mothers Temple experience has come to Newcastle, and for this praise is due to promoters Wandering Oak for making it happen. Whilst it would be foolish to predict just what to expect, you can be assured that it should be something very special.

If that’s not enticing enough already, then consider that local doom heroes BONG have also been added to the bill. On something of a roll off the back of this year’s brilliant Thought And Existence album, their contemplative, consuming sound adds another eye-opening dimension to this bill.
