Spoken word is having something of a miniature resurgence in the region at the minute. With the success of organisations such as Jibba Jabba and other grassroots literary events springing up all around our towns and cities, the pleasure of listening to someone else flex their vocabulary and weave narratives together has never been easier to experience the magic of spoken word. Alphabetti Theatre, in association with Bird Productions, are giving you yet another opportunity to find out more about some of the talented people we have in the north east.

Bird Productions have been working on a series of workshops with budding spoken word artists and poets, and some of the results will be showcased on the night. It could be a nerve-wracking time for some of the performers, but it’s bound to be an enlightening night for both them and the audience. Conrad Bird himself will be hosting the night and providing some thoughtful segue-ways between the acts. It might even inspire you to put pen to paper…

The Spoken Word Showcase takes place at the Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle on Wednesday 29th April.
