You might know Joe Allan as being one of the finest rising singer-songwriters in the region, producing some of the most beautifully crafted songs found on the Tyne. So when he’s effectively abandoning his own name and solo act to team up with a bunch of equally talented musicians under the title of A Festival, A Parade, you know you’re in for something quite special. The band’s first proper gig under the new name will see the group seducing the audience with their penchant for melodic alt rock that boasts more than a few twinkly guitar lines but sporting some refreshingly honest lyrics too.

Joining them on the night is Sakes, otherwise known as the alt rock solo project of Shades man Glen Sutherland. It’s typically only a studio project, so this could well be Sutherland’s first and last gig under the guise (we hope not though). Americana-tinged alt pop quartet Canyons are also making an appearance off the back of releasing the wonderfully catchy Iso. There will also be some very special guests making an appearance, so who knows who might show up to make an already special night just that little bit more memorable…

A Festival, A Parade play at the Little Buildings, Newcastle on Saturday 12th September.
