D6: Culture in Transit is a Newcastle based visual arts organisation with the goal of uniting neighbourhoods by supporting artists and communities to share intercultural exchange. Their current programme, There is Beauty in this Journey, looks to challenge contemporary constructs surrounding migration and cultural heritage. As part of this programme, the group have organised an evening in celebration of International Migrants Day at the Star and Shadow on Wednesday 18th December.

The event will showcase new work, ideas and some of the region’s freshest talent and features an exceptional line-up of artists, musicians and storytellers, whose work and performances represent the diversity that makes our communities unique. Performers include Hamzeh Al-Hussein who will be airing his new one-man show, Penguin – an autobiographical account of his life in Syria, to his flat in Gateshead. He will be joined by hip-hop artist Kay Greyson along with poet, musician and activist Radikal Queen.

Everybody is welcome. Tickets are free and available via Eventbrite.
