Reliably informed

After a successful run of shows in 2014 – including exhibitions by Oliver Beck and Ashley Hipkin as well as Sam Grant and Rosie Morris – Newcastle-based gallery 36 Lime Street are looking to populate 2015 with even more artwork in a range of different mediums. They are now looking for proposals for the programme, which will allow for a total of seven exhibitions to take place between March and December, with the space being available to artists, students and studio members alike.

Any art form is welcome for a maximum run of two weeks, with one week installation in advance. 36 Lime Street will then publicise the programme through its website and e-marketing platforms to help the artists involved get the best coverage and exposure. Any exhibitors interested in taking part can also arrange a preview, in consultation with the organization.

There are one or two expectations of the artists: firstly, that they are responsible for invigilating their own shows, that the gallery has no direct funding and so the artists and curators will have to fund their own show and that 36 Lime Street cannot insure any work while it is on their premises. Artists must also return the space to its original condition after the exhibition ends.

But hey, that’s not too bad of a deal to have your work exhibited in one of the city’s best-loved galleries is it?

The deadline for proposals is 5pm on Friday 27th January and all successful artists will be informed by Friday 13th March.
