Having previously brought a sensational solo snare drum set from Ryosuke Kiyasi to The Old Police House in Gateshead (with footage from his set somehow making it onto Have I Got News For You), Infinity Mirror Records return to the scene of the crime on Friday 31st May for another dose of Japanese psych power.

Made up of noted guitarist Suzuki Junzo (himself no stranger to the region) and Tabata Mitsuru (previously of Boredoms and Acid Mothers Temple), 20 Guilders showcases a more meditative side to the duo’s art, blending ideas from folk, drone, krautrock and acid-soaked rock into a dreamy, heavily textured trip.

Alongside them is one stellar support bill. Stealing Kittens may only be a sporadic presence on the scene, but her combination of abrasive guitar pyrotechnics and powerful, haunting balladry means that any set of hers will always be unmissable. 1727, a new solo project from Esme Newman of Penance Stare, brings a hefty dose of harsh noise and vocal experimentation to proceedings, while opening the show is a performance from Forest Mourning (better known as one third of local psych heroes Snakes Don’t Belong In Alaska), showcasing his solo guitar improvisations following his debut solo tape release.
