Welcome to the ninth annual NARC. Compilation Album, curated to celebrate our birthday but also to shine a light on some of the amazing local acts we’ve come across. Head over to our Bandcamp site to download your free copy of the album featuring 17 tracks which veer from quirky alt. folk, riotous blues, aggressive rock, disco pop and plenty more besides. You’re welcome.

The Unthanks’ welcome return is the kind of melancholy, reminiscent, dream-like fable you might hear from the like of Joanna Newsom, Paul Brady, Vetiver or Juliet Turner with a dash of Miles Davis. In a world of fast pop the Northumbrian band deliver a wholesome retreat into the rose-tinted past.

There is an underlying expression of rich exoticness in this track which perfectly complements the traditional folk roots. An ideal homecoming for The Unthanks, it’s a track which shows just how much they’ve grown in their years away.
