15 years after releasing the acclaimed album, Let Go, New Yorkers Nada Surf finally make it to Newcastle with an anniversary tour An Evening With Nada Surf.

With the room intimately filled with zealous fans, the band saunter onto stage and dive straight into the first track of the album; a stunningly soft and unaccompanied version of Blizzard of ‘77. Cranking things up a bit, drummer Ira Elliot joins the stage to smash into second track The Way You Wear Your Head, and the band continue to play through the entirety of the album.

Caw’s beautifully vulnerable vocals force the hairs on the back of your neck to rise as he sings “I want to know what it’s like on the inside of love”, where the crowd can’t decide whether to stand and stare or sing along. Track Là Pour Çà finally silences the room as backing vocalist and bassist Daniel Lorca shows us that he has even more to offer than killer bass and badass dreadlocks.

After a brief interval the guys returned to play a second set filled with fan favourites from Popular to Always Love. The gig ends on a high with a the entire room joining in for an ‘Oh Fuck It’ version of Blankest Year.

With almost two and a half hours of Nada Surf, the evening was definitely one worth waiting for for local fans!
